Winning

A cry of joy

A laugh, a spark

Or a simple smile

These are all wins

Wins to them

Wins to you

Wins to me

But what are they given for

Running a race, coming first

Good grade on a test

Smile from a crush

These are all wins for somebody

But which is real, which the best

Which win will win the race

Different people say different things

And win in different ways

Whether or not you think this true

What is the greatest win for you?

Walls of Your Mind

Sometimes

When you’re feeling down

It seems like you are locked in

Locked away in a fortress

Missing, lost

You see walls

Surrounding you

Blocking you

Keeping you inside

But just say a word

A phrase

Tell someone your problems

Cry into their shoulder

Then you will see those walls come down

You will realize

That they were just

Walls of your mind

Life and Death

Sudden silence

Takes over the mind

Not a single atom moving

The senses closed

Unfeeling

Tears are shed nearby

People of the same blood

Are overcome with sorrow

But know

That this is not the end

Whether there is heaven, or reincarnation

Or nothing at all

Life will go on

Living in the hearts and memories

Of others

Passed on for generations

And even when it dies out

There is still a flickering light

A fluttering flame

Of everyone that ever was

And ever will be

Remember

That you are never alone

Guided by this flame

And remember

Though there may be an end to physical beings

There is never an end for life

The Snowflake

A white shape flutters in the breeze

The sun shining through

Its light changing colors

Dancing patterns on the droplet

Frozen in a six-point pattern

Around a speck of dust

Every snowflake is formed the same

Yet they are each unique

Each have their own patterns

Just like us

In every single person, animal or plant

There are no two identical beings

Until time stops

Beats infinity in the race of life

You will be the one and only you

Never forget that

Never forget who you are

For you are the snowflake

The Mirror

You look into the mirror, your heart clenching nervously

But you never seem to understand

A mirror always lies

It makes you think that all you are

All it is on the outside, your looks, your smile

But it never can show what really matters

What’s hiding deep inside

It can never show the light you hold

When you’re doing what you love

Can never show your kindness and your love

So instead of trusting the mirror, “the reflection of you”

Trust your friends and family

Who know and love every part of the wonderful being

That is really you

Out of Nothing

A smile, a laugh, a grin

A frown, a yell, a sob

How we do and feel

Millions of animals

Billions of years of evolution

An arm, reaching

For a gold-encrusted knob

The door, to another place

Leading to another time

Before you and I

When the first molecules

Began to make life

A breath in

All is still

Then a quiet exhale

Life is starting

From a land barren but rock and water

There came life

Out of nothing

new-beginnings

Infinity

The turn of time

Let loose without limit

Shows us that we don’t need to fear an end

That everything that has ever and will ever be

Is connected by the force of life

Flowing from one to the next

Starting from the beginning

Lasting till the end

A never-ending spiral,

What some may call an illusion

They try to push it away

Unable to expand their minds

Grasp something bigger than life

Wanting, needing boundaries

But they find none

Only a vast space, filled to the brim

An endless waterfall,

A perpetual machine

A race with time

That is always tied

This is infinity

Infinity Picture

Different

Roses aren’t always red

Violets aren’t all blue

This world shuns the abnormal

But different can be good, too

Everyone is unique

Different DNA

No one sees the world the same

Different black, white, grey

Never hide you true colors

Burst forth from your cocoon

Like a caterpillar to a butterfly

Fly, sail over the moon

Shadow on the Light

A shadow falls upon the light

An angry god punishing

The order falls to chaos

The sun’s light, diminishing

But soon, it is calm again

Not a sound to be heard

For a silent corona steals all breath

The laws of reality, blurred

Day suddenly gives way to night

The birds twittering, lost and scared

But soon, as the the diamond ring shows

They grow silent, not prepared

For the wonderful sight

That awaits them in the sky

The shadow lessens

The darkness passes by

Leaving only the memories

Of the day, an insignificant rock

Dared threaten the power of the sun

As we mortals stay frozen in shock
