Call of the Wild

A grizzly here, a black bear there

Mother elk nuzzling her child

Father moose fighting another

The call of an eagle, angry and riled

Butterflies of very color

These animals may seem tough, strong

But they can’t fight what we have done

Snakes curled up, their tongues so long

Never taking a break, always on the run

Will they have to live like this forever?

Running for their life till they die

Not able to rest, ever

I hope not a single reader has a dry eye

And all come together to save the wild

Every last male, female and child

Desire for Perfection

Light is Nature’s Time

“Twelve o’ clock, PM.”

The time when the sun is highest in the sky

“Seven PM.”

The time when the sun begins to set

The words we use for time

Reflect our desire to make everything numbers

Our want to make sure we are perfect

For most life forms on Earth

Being a half an’ hour wrong is okay

Do we need to be the perfectionists of the world?

Silent Follower

This black image that goes everywhere with me

This dark reflection of my world

Hiding from the light

This door to another place

Maybe to another Earth in the multi-verse

A gateway to our past, future

Is this something to be afraid of?

Something to study, learn about?

Whatever I do with my secret imitator

Atleast I know that never in time

Will I be truly alone

I will always have my silent follower

Leap of Faith

A cliff, a deep ravine, the rest of your life on the other side

The lip of a crater, your family and friends reaching out from across

A hold just out of reach, your feet firmly placed for launching

A mountain top under your feet, the rest of the world on another

The tip of the dock, the cool, calm water beckoning

You are on the cusp, the edge of today, tomorrow waiting

Do you jump, do you believe, do you act?

The world paved a path with many crevices, ravines and bumps

Your family and friends encouraging through the jumps

Don’t hesitate, propel yourself through the change

Don’t think of the consequences

Just jump, fly, soar

Take that leap of faith!!

What Mothers Do

The child stays close

Hiding behind her mother’s dress

She looks over and sees, a boy sitting alone

Her mother pushes her closer

She gives her child a friend

In return, her child cries when it’s time to go home

Yells and shouts at having to leave her friend

The child stays close

Holding her mother’s hand

She looks up and sees a building

Kids going in

Her mother pushes her in

She gives her child an education

In return, her child does her homework alone

Another reason to keep mom away

The child stays close

Standing at her mother’s side

She looks up and sees a college

Her mother pushes her through the door

She gives her child a place to find herself

In return, her child never calls

Never asks for advice

The child stays close

Standing shyly beside her mother

She looks up and sees a man

The boy her mother had pushed her to in kindergarten

Her mother stepped back, pushing her child

She gives her child a grand wedding

In return, the child moves away

And rarely visits

Love your mother, and thank her for all she’s done for you

You’ll be a mother someday soon

The House on the Hill

I felt lost in the grasses

Like an old toy left out in the rain

I could see the house

So close, yet so far

Will I ever reach?

“Yes” said a voice

From deep inside me

For I saw a woman walking down the hill

With the last of my strength

I called out to her

Before falling into sleep

Feeling safe, two gentle arms,

Wrapped ’round me

The Perfect Way a Story Goes

Mysteries, fairytales, tragedies and more

Words flow from your heart, your core

They swirl up to your head

Never misread

Inspiring you to do the same

All the things you never found sane

Come to life, as you turn the pages

Adventures and tragedies of the ages

There for all the world to enjoy

For people to cry and laugh in joy

Making connections that will last forever

Bonds between us you can never sever

So, as I give this to you, today

Think of the wonderful times, coming your way

And thank the gods, that you know

Just the perfect way a story goes

The Spirit Child

The little spirit flutters down to ground

With no body to keep it rigd

It wakes up to find the world

In which it will live forever

It knows to find the family

That needs it so

Looking for life

The spirit closes it’s eyes once more

To open them to a mom

And a dad

Smiling at it

Forever….

The Bump in the Road

On a walk, this black Sunday morning

A fluffball close to my thigh

I was singing a song

The fluffball dancing along

When I felt the slightest rise

I was lifted off the ground, the fluffball rising too

I was flying, high, high up

Touching the clouds of daylight

I zoomed forward, Fluffy, close behind

I reach the land of afternoon, the sun low in the sky

I went farther, to the night, stars twinkling merrily

Fluffy barking madly, at my side

I looked down, suddenly dizzy

Falling, falling

Closer to ground

I closed my eyes, and when I opened them

I was standing on solid ground

The world was pitch black, as always

To my unseeing eyes

I reached down to Fluffy

And walked on, the adventure still in mind

And I walked right past the bump in the road
