Turtles of Time

They carry forth

Unaware

Of the troubles that lie

Undetected

They venture to the blues and greens

Traveling in line

Even when they reach

They find suffeiring

Yet they will survive

Keep their species alive

Like a child in a biting storm

Running home from school

These hardened souls

These little children

Lost in the waves of life

Struggle to surface once more

These turtles of time

Ray of Sun

The wind blows strong

And the hail never stops

But the light of the sun carries on

When the clouds cover up

What is too dim to get through

That little ray of sun will

For it has the power of you

And all the ones you love

Separated by body

Brought together by soul

The single ray of sun

In the cold dark of night

Lights the whole world up

Harmony of Holidays

You waited so very long for this

This very special night

Your friends have also been waiting

Saving their money

To  enjoy their friends

Crying out with joy

You wait for something else

For you comes the dreidel

The menorah and gelt too

You and your friends have different celebrations

And they never break this friendship

They bring you closer

This sharing of religion

It only happens once every year

These holidays, both very near and dear

This crisscross of Hanukkah and Christmas

One in a Billion

The world is million times bigger than me

A star in the universe

A speck of dust in god’s plate

A proton in the heart of uranium atom

You feel like the it is the world against you

And you feel so alone over in the dark side

But you’re not

If you add me and all my friends up

Billion stars, galaxy

Billion specks of dusk, a very big dust bunny

Billion protons, a large piece of uranium

Bring your army forth

And you can do anything

The Dreamland

The sun is going down, getting ready for bed

And so are the animals below

But, the human children have already gone

To a world which is only theirs

They leap, swim, burrow, and fly

In the world of their hopes and happenings

Here a mother is laughing when she almost won the game

There is me, inventing the first time machine

Wonders come and reality slips away

Into the whirling pool of visions

The thoughts of a child randomly come

Making the impossible possible

In the depths of their dreamland

Quiet Emotions

Slowly up and slowly down

Enjoying the quiet thrill

Pitter patter

The rain drops fall

As quiet as can be

Some are stopped by branches

Reaching out from within

And stay like clear happy berries

Eyes closed, imagining

The tree spirit coming out

Seeing the little drops

Shaking them all out

They fell upon her all alone

Well, not alone anymore

The girl of quiet happiness

The girl in a quiet swing

The City Lights

I climbed to the top

The wind blowing in my face

I looked around in the darkness

That hid a very pretty place

The storm was raging high

And the pulled light switch down

The strongest, largest guy

Could not flip the massive switch

But then I volunteered

To give the world its light

And have the darkness cleared

And with brains I could do it

So I brought my thing

My thing-a-magig

Which had major bling

And I fastened it on the switch

And turned it round and round

And I was blinded by the light

That came from the town

The light switch was flipped, hooray

And yet, to this very day

I look upon the town

And think of standing on the tower

And looking down, upon it all

The city lights, that never go away

The Perfect Swirl

She placed the jars in rows

And tipped them over all at once

The colored contents spilled and splashed

Into the tray of water

But then, somehow, the colors stayed on the surface

Making a pattern, so breathtaking

I let out a gasp

She swirled the colors all together

Pretty reds, yellows, blues and purples

“How do you do it?!” I asked

“Find the right balance of color.”

Now I depend on that

In art and life

Enough work so I make money for my family

Not too much, so I can spend time with them

My children are always told to depend on it too

And yet, the pester me about it

“Why do you follow this “balance”?” they ask

Because if you balance out your life

It will end up like the perfect swirl, made by Great-Grandma

Home Is Where the Heart Is

For 18 years the heart was here

For 18 years, friends came and went

For 18 years, this was us

For 18 years, we have lived with the souls who got released here

For 18 years, this has been our home,

For 18 years…………

Where are we to go now?

Leave the place we have seen as new and say goodbye to the old

How can we?

How can we leave?

Make a place of new memories, happy and sad

In a state of incompletion

How can we……

Rebuild the heart in this place

This place that will be

The next……

How can we?

We will just remember

Home, no matter if it is old or new, is where the heart is
